About Nippers
The North Burleigh Nippers have enjoyed tremendous success over the past years and endeavour to continue improving our Nipper activities from season to season. The enjoyment of getting together most Sunday between the 9th October to the 5th March, makes for a great family atmosphere at North Burleigh. Our North Burleigh family grows each year and is a great social outing where parents & children join as one. These sessions are all dependent on water safety, weather conditions, program, etc, with a break over the Christmas holidays.
Commitment at North Burleigh in the Junior division involves children aged 5 to 13 years who compete, train and meet formally. Every Sunday the activities kick off at 8.15 am sharp with our juniors dressed in their North Burleigh swimwear, cap, and most importantly lathered in sunscreen assemble on the grassed area at the Northern end of the club. The children are called into their age groups, some information as to plans for the day are given and the Age Managers move their groups to the relevant area to begin their Junior Activity programs. Parents are encouraged to move with their children, as this is a fun-packed day for the whole family.
As well as a focus on competition drills, education and skill development, Sunday mornings are a great opportunity to catch up with friends and enjoy the beautiful beach and fantastic facilities of the North Burleigh Surf Life Saving Club.
Nippers in the Under 8 Age groups and above are encouraged to train on boards and in the water during the week to become familiar with varied surf conditions. Weekly board sessions are conducted for all members.
